Notre Dame Men’s Lacrosse: Irish survive the first round with 14-9 victory over Albany

It was a sunny and beautiful Mother’s Day on Sunday in South Bend as the #1 seed Fighting Irish of Notre Dame took on the Great Danes from Albany in our opening round matchup of the 2024 NCAA college lacrosse tournament.

Finals took place this past week at Notre Dame so a lot of students headed home for the summer on Friday and Saturday, but even with that being the case, there were 2,460 in attendance to see our Irish for the final time at home this spring. And while it was not the start that a lot of us fans were expecting to see (the Irish were down at halftime by a score of 5-4), we turned things on after the break and went on a 9-2 run to take the lead and finish off Albany by a final score of 14-9.
