Athletics Kenya has officially announced that former Louisville All-American Wesley Korir will represent Kenya during the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro on August 12-21, 2016. Korir is the first University of Louisville track and field athlete to be named an Olympian.
Korir competed for the Cardinals from 2005-07. He currently holds school records in the outdoor 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m and the indoor 5000m. He would also earn All-American honors multiple times. He finished 3rd in the 5000m at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Champions finished 12th in the fall of 2007 at the NCAA Cross-Country Championships.
